PSG Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
